Never Give Up!

"I have everything I need to do God's Will for my life. . ."

My Name is Becky Vaughn. I am happy for the opportunity to share my story with you.

My mother and I were burned in a house fire in 1978. I was two. I am thankful that I do not have any memories of those first few critical years. My mother and I spent many months in separate hospitals. I have had many reconstructive surgeries. In fact, I had a corrective surgery on my eyelids last May which has solved multiple long term problems.

On Fatherís Day the year I was six, my dad helped me to see that my physical suffering was not enough to save my soul. I had to trust what Christ had done for me on the cross to save me from my sin.

When I was five and it was time for me to start school, my dad began looking for a good school. However, no Christian schools existed that were equipped to meet my special needs. The Lord led my Dad to start Hidden Treasure Christian School which has students with disabilities ranging from learning disabilities to down syndrome. I graduated from HTCS in 1994. I spent several more years learning to drive and having more corrective surgeries. I began attending Bob Jones University in 2000. In the last twelve years I have gotten my driverís license, a new van, and my college diploma. Currently, I am pursuing my Masterís degree in Counseling from Bob Jones.

Three years ago in September of 2008, the Lord saw fit to take my younger brother, Dan, home to heaven. Dan struggled spiritually, but there will come a day when he and I will be reunited and we will both be perfect in body and spirit.

My life verse, Philippians 1:6, promises me that the Lord has a purpose for my life. Ultimately, that purpose is to make me more like Jesus Christ. That is His purpose for all of us
